Television actor Chhavi Mittal, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022, has shared a deeply personal and emotional note about her ongoing journey of healing, both physical and emotional. Taking to Instagram, Chhavi opened up about the lasting impact of her treatment, including the changes in her body and the emotional toll it has taken.
In a heartfelt post shared on Monday, Chhavi uploaded a series of photos, one showing the scar on her back, another from her workout session, and a few featuring her smiling in a pink outfit. While she wore a bright expression, her words revealed the layered emotions behind the smile.
“Even though that scar on my back is beautiful and narrates a captivating story of resilience and courage, there are things that I do miss sometimes,” she wrote.
Chhavi says she uses hair extensions, feels like a liar
The actor candidly admitted that the hair she now sports are not her own. “That gorgeous hair, for one, are extensions. I lost my length and thickness due to the radiotherapy and hormone therapy. Now when someone praises me for my hair, I feel like I’m a liar and a cheat,” she shared.

She also revealed that she still struggles with the changes in her body post-treatment, especially the asymmetry in her breasts. “The breasts are no longer the same size, and that breaks my heart on most days. I cry for it many times & feel like that’s a flaw I wanna hide,” Chhavi confessed.
Turning pain into strength
Despite these vulnerable admissions, Chhavi emphasized how she continues to find strength in her scars and her story. “For hair, I took off my extensions today and am determined that soon I’ll be able to grow my hair long again, coz I’ve always had a passion for long hair,” she wrote.
“And for breasts, I wear a low neck on low days and proudly flaunt my disfigurement and wear it like an ornament that was gifted directly from God.”
She ended her post with a powerful line of gratitude, “Woh din bhi acche thay, aur ye din aur bhi acche hain (Those days were good, and these days are even better). Thank you, God, for giving me the honour to go through breast cancer, and the blessing to survive. #breastcancerwarrior”
Chhavi's cancer journey
Chhavi was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2022 and underwent surgery soon after. She later announced that she was cancer-free. In 2023, she also revealed being diagnosed with costochondritis, a condition causing inflammation in the cartilage connecting the ribs to the breastbone.
