
Palghar, Maharashtra: A domestic helper is suspected of stealing gold ornaments valued at ₹4 lakh from the residence of a sitting BMC corporator in Vasai West. The Manikpur Police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Ranjala Nazre, who is currently at large.
The complainant, Jaya Shyam Pendhari (59), a BMC corporator, discovered the theft on the morning of July 25, 2025, around 10:30 am. Pendhari was preparing to deposit her jewellery in her Axis Bank locker when she opened her cupboard and noticed several gold ornaments were missing.
According to the FIR, the only other person with access to the home was her domestic worker, Ranjala Nazre, who hails from Morigaon, Assam. This led Pendhari to strongly suspect her maid of the theft.

The total estimated value of the stolen jewellery is ₹4,00,000.
A case has been registered under Sections 305 and 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend the accused.
