August 2025 is going to be a blockbuster month for Bollywood with an exciting slate of films ready to hit the big screen soon. From high-octane action thrillers and gripping biopics to nostalgic sequels and heartwarming romances, August has something for every kind of moviegoer.

They include the much-anticipated War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr., the dramatic love story featuring Siddhant Chaturvedu and Triptii Dimri, Dhadak 2, or Rajinikanth’s electrifying actioner Coolie. Take a look at seven major Bollywood theatrical releases lined up for August 2025.

7 Bollywood movies releasing in August 2025 1. ‘Dhadak 2’ (August 1, 2025)

Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Charurvedi are ready to set the screen on fire with their electrifying chemistry in Dhadak 2. It is the spiritual sequel to Dhadak (2018) and a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018).

Just like its first counterpart, Dhadak 2 explores young love against a crude social backdrop, exploring various societal issues like casteism, honour killing and more.

2. ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ (August 1, 2025)

The action drama, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, is directed by Vijay Kumar Arora. It is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 film Son of Sardaar. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Mrunal Thakur and Sanjay Mishra in key roles.

The plot is set in a village in which 12-year-old Aarav and friends participate in the annual Mango Festival hunt and look for a rare golden mango. They face challenges, rivalries, and learn teamwork.

3. ‘Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi’ (August 1, 2025)

Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi is an upcoming film, directed by Ravindra Gautam. The film is inspired by Shantanu Gupta's book, The Monk Who Became Chief Minister. It stars Anant Joshi as Yogi Adityanath, the incumbent chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

4. ‘War 2’ (August 14, 2025)

Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan and Telugu megastar NTR Jr. have joined forces for the next installment in the War series.

War 2 is the sequel to the 2019 movie War, which featured Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, with Vaani Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana in pivotal supporting roles. In War 2, NTR Jr. will be seen playing the antagonist while Hrithik will reprise his role of Major Kabir Dhaliwal.

5. ‘Param Sundari’ (August, 2025)

Param Sundari, Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra’s romantic comedy, is helmed by Tushar Jalota. The film intends to revive the genre of feel-good intercultural love stories in Bollywood.

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Kerala, the movie follows a tumultuous love story between a North Indian man and South Indian woman that is hindered by caste and cultural differences. Amid heartwarming romantic moments, chaos finds its way to turn everything upside down.

6. ‘Coolie’ (August 14, 2025)

One of the most-anticipated films of the year, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is setting the expectations high for the fans and already creating buzz. The film also features stars like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Shruti Hassan.

Helmed by Lokesh Kanagraj and bankrolled by Sun Pictures, the Tamil action thriller film will release worldwide on the Independence Day weekend on August 14. It will be released in multiple Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

7. ‘The India Story’ (August 15, 2025)

Shreyas Talpade will be next seen in The India Story. Directed by Chetan DK and produced by Sagar B Shinde, this film is a crime drama that delves into scandals surrounding pesticide companies.

Kajal Aggarwal is set to play the female lead alongside Talpade. The movie will be released around Independence Day weekend.
