The most interesting aspect of the Nag Vasuki temple is its association with the sea churning. According to mythology, when the gods and asuras together decided to churn the sea to get the nectar, they needed a huge character and rope that could make this task possible. On the instructions of Lord Vishnu, the Mandarachal mountain was made churn and the king of serpents Vasuki was used as a rope. Vasuki Nag was so huge and powerful that his body was wrapped around the Mandarachal mountain and the gods from one side and the Asuras from the other side began to pull them. This was a very painful task, because during the churning, a terrible poison came out of Vasuki's body, which Lord Shiva worn for public welfare.
It is believed that Nag Vasuki played an important role in this great work, resulting in nectar finally. When Nag Vasuki suffered a lot during the sea churning, he made his residence in many places on the earth for rest. Prayagraj is one of the holy places where Nag Vasuki rested. It is believed that this temple is built at the same place.
Architectural
The architecture of Nag Vasuki temple is very attractive. In addition to the grand statue of Vasuki Nag in the temple premises, statues of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and other deities are also installed. Mythology and beautiful pictures of deities are carved on the walls of the temple, which provide a divine experience to the devotees. There is a banks of river Ganges near the temple, from where a panoramic view of sunrise and sunset can be seen.
