- Tuar Dal (Arhar Dal) – 1 cup
- Chickpea lentil – 1/4 cup
- Red Lentil – 1/4 cup
- Desi Ghee – 2 tablespoons
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Cumin – 1 tsp
- Dry red chili – 2
- Onion (finely chopped) – 1
- Tomato (finely chopped) – 2
- Ginger-garlic paste- 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
- chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – As per taste
- Green coriander – For garnish
How to make Nagauri Dal – Jaane Step by Step Recipe
step 1:
First of all, wash the three pulses together and soak for 30 minutes.
Step 2:
Now add soaked lentils in the pressure cooker and mix 3 cups of water, turmeric and salt and boil it till 3 whistles.
Step 3:
Now heat ghee in a pan and add asafetida, cumin and dry chili.
Step 4:
When the cumin starts crackling, add onion and fry it till it becomes golden.
Step 5:
Now he put ginger-garlic paste and run 1 minute. After this, add tomatoes, turmeric, red chili, and coriander powder and fry the spices.
Step 6:
When the masala starts releasing oil, add boiled lentils and mix it well.
Step 7:
If needed, add some water and cook the lentils on low flame for 5 to 7 minutes.
Step 8:
Now your Nagauri dal is ready. Serve finely chopped green coriander over it and serve.
Serving tips
- Serve this dal with roti, tandoori roti, butter naan and cumin rice.
- You can also add a little butter or cream to it. This increases the taste even more.
