England’s assistant coach Marcus Trescothic has expressed concern about the bowling of captain Ben Stokes on the fifth day of the fourth Test. India’s batsmen KL Rahul and Shubman Gill did not allow England take any wickets on Saturday, due to which the English team lacked Stokes.
India’s strong comeback in second innings
Chris Woakes wreaked havoc at the beginning of India’s second innings and dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudarshan in the first over for two consecutive balls. But after this, Rahul and Gill did not give any other success to England. Together, both of them shared an unbeaten 174 runs and did not let two wickets fall in the entire session.
Not bowling Ben Stokes headache for England
Ben Stokes has taken the most wickets in this series so far and also took five wickets in the first innings of this Test. But on the fourth day, he did not throw a single over. The reason behind this was told that he "Tired and tightness in the body" Is.
Cramp came during batting
Tracies said,"They are a little stuck and there is tiredness in the body. He has worked hard in the last few weeks. During the batting in the first innings, he got a lot of cramps. We are hoping that after one more night rest, they can throw some overs."
129 overs bowled in the series
Ben Stokes underwent hamstring surgery in January and has returned to Test cricket only last month. In this series, he has bowled 129 overs so far – which is the highest in any series in his career.
While batting on the third day, Stokes retired, but later came back and scored a century, which ended the doubt about his injury to some extent. But now that he did not bowl on the fourth day and was seen holding hamstring during fielding, the worry increased again.
"Just fatigue, not a big deal": Traksothic
Former batsman Trescothic said not considering Stokes’ injury not too serious "This is just the effect of fatigue and heavy workload. From where he has made a comeback, his body is working much more hard than that. This is just a matter of monitoring. Yesterday he got a cramp, so there is a little worry. But it is expected that they will recover quickly."
Long rest after Oval Test, out of Hundred Tournament
The next Test between England and India will be played at the Oval from 31 July. After this, Stokes will not be seen on the field till the Ashes to be held in October-November, as he is going to stay out of the ‘The Hundred’ tournament. This will give them time to fit perfectly.
If Stokes is unable to bowl on the fifth day for England, it can be a big shock, because the current fast bowlers have failed to pressurize India’s batsmen. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether Stokes will be able to take the ball in the field on the last day.
