Fashion designer Maria B has publicly supported actress Sarah Khan and strongly criticized writer and former journalist Reham Khan for her views.

Back in mid-May, Sarah Khan appeared in an interview where she rejected being labeled a feminist. She described herself as a traditional woman who enjoys staying at home, dislikes waiting in lines to pay bills, and prefers that her husband handle such tasks.

Sarah expressed that she believes men should be given the role designated for them so that women can live in peace.

In response, Reham Khan stated that everything Sarah Khan has achieved is due to the feminist movement and the long-standing struggle for women’s rights. According to Reham, without feminism, Sarah would not have had the opportunity to appear on television, act in dramas, or voice her opinions.

She also argued that such thinking only reinforces the barriers that women already face in society.

Recently, Maria B addressed the controversy in an Instagram video, siding with Sarah Khan and criticizing Reham Khan’s comments.

Maria B stated that people like Reham are pushing Western feminist ideologies in Pakistan, similar to what is seen in the Aurat March. She emphasized that in Islam, the belief is not “My body, my choice” but rather “My body is a trust from Allah.”

According to Maria, a woman is empowered when she serves her parents, respects her husband and brothers, and even maintains dignity and respect for a former husband.

She added that rising violence against women in society is largely due to a lack of Islamic values. A man learns how to respect, protect, and love a woman through those teachings.

Maria concluded by saying that Sarah Khan was absolutely right — a sentiment she believes all Pakistani parents would support.
