Bollywood’s veteran actor Sanjay Dutt, often referred to as “Baba” by his fans, has confirmed for the first time that a female admirer once willed her entire estate—worth approximately ₹720 million (72 crore INR)—to him.
Back in 2018, news reports surfaced claiming that a woman suffering from a terminal illness had left all her property to Sanjay Dutt before passing away. At the time, the actor did not comment on the matter. However, in a recent interview with Hindustan TimesSanjay Dutt has finally confirmed that the reports were true.
He revealed that although the woman had indeed legally transferred all her assets to him, he eventually returned the entire estate to her family.
According to the reports from 2018, the woman was a 62-year-old Mumbai resident and had been a long-time fan of Sanjay Dutt. Battling a terminal illness, she left both her family and her bank stunned by legally declaring that all her belongings—including valuable property—be given to the actor.
This revelation made headlines in 2018 and caught widespread media attention. The woman’s family only found out about her decision after her death.
Even though Sanjay Dutt was the legal beneficiary of her will, he chose to return the inheritance to the woman’s family. His gracious act earned him widespread praise and respect.
Speaking publicly about the incident for the first time, Sanjay Dutt said he was deeply surprised to learn that someone could be such a devoted fan that they would leave their entire estate to him. He also reiterated that he handed everything back to her rightful heirs, feeling it was the right thing to do.
