
8th Pay Commission: With the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the salary of level-1 employees like PWD peon can increase from 18,000 to 51,480.
Recently, the central government gave the green signal to the 8th Pay Commission, which brought smiles on the faces of lakhs of central employees and pensioners. Especially the lower-level employees working in government departments, like peons, are now very excited about the possible increase in their salary.
The names of the chairman and two members of the 8th Pay Commission can be announced by the government soon. It is believed that this announcement can be made in August 2025. The fitment factor will be decided only after the formation of the committee, which forms the basis for increasing the salary.
Not just salary, allowances will also improve
The Pay Commission not only reviews the basic salary, but also evaluates many other benefits given to the employees like dearness allowance, travel allowance, medical facilities, housing allowance. This is the reason why all the employees eagerly await this commission.
How much can the salary of a peon increase?
Peons, multi-tasking staff and attendants working in departments like PWD are considered level-1 employees. Their current basic salary is 18,000 per month. If a fitment factor of 2.86 is fixed in the 8th Pay Commission, then the salary of such employees can increase to about 51,480.
All employees are estimating their salary
From peon to clerk and constable, all the employees are now calculating their salary to see what good news the 8th Pay Commission will bring for them. Especially those employees who were managing with low salaries till now, are expected to get big relief this time.
When can the new pay commission be implemented?
It is estimated that the 8th Pay Commission can be implemented from the year 2026, so that it can be considered effective from January 1, 2026. Before this, the process of appointment of the committee, recommendations and preparation of the report will be completed.
