Senior actor Tauseeq Haider has said that children should be seen as a gift from God, not as a support system for old age.
In a candid conversation on Ahmed Fauzan’s podcast, the veteran actor spoke openly about his personal choices, marriage, and society’s expectations.
Tauseeq Haider Began His Career With Pakistan Television (PTV) and recently returned to acting. He has appeared in popular dramaas like kabhi main kabhi tum, meem se mohabbat, and dunyapur.
He said people often ask him how he will manage in old age, since he is not married and has no children. Responding to such concerns, he said that producing children just for future support is a selfish idea.
“Children are Allah’s blessing, but they shouldn’t be treated like a retirement plan,” he stated.
He added that he is not worried about growing old alone. “There are people in my life who would care for me if I needed help. And even if I had children, there’s no guarantee they would do so,” he remarked.
Tauseeq Haider also reflected on others he has seen. “I’ve known people who had children and grandchildren, yet they passed away in complete loneliness,” he said.
He acknowledged the joy that children can bring but emphasized that they aren’t the only source of happiness in life. “There are many other ways to find fulfillment,” he said.
When asked why he never married, he shared that there was once a possibility, but the relationship didn’t reach marriage.
“After 35, I realized that I shouldn’t get married just to fulfill social pressure. Marriage is a responsibility—it should only happen if you’re ready for it.”
Currently, he has no plans to marry but added, “Who knows what the future holds?”
