Drug addiction in Punjab has ruined many families, but now the Bhagwant Maan Sarkar is taking an important step to end this serious issue. This fight against drug addiction will now be fought from police stations and fought in schools classes. The government has taken a historic decision, which aims to make Punjab drug addicts.

From August 1, a special course of drug prevention will be implemented for students of class 9 to 12 in all government schools of Punjab. The syllabus has been prepared by the team of Nobel Prize winning Professor Abhijeet Banerjee, which has been appreciated by experts across the country. Children will be taught in a 35 -minute orbit every 15 days for 27 weeks to reject the intoxication and do not choose the wrong option under pressure. This initiative will include about 8 lakh students from 3,658 schools, which will be taught 6,500 trained teachers.

The pilot project of this course was run in 78 schools in Amritsar and Tarn Taran, the results of which were very positive. Out of 9,600 children, 90% admitted that consuming drugs like Chitta may also cause addiction. Earlier 50% of the children believed that drug addiction could be left out of will, but now this number has come down to 20%. This indicates that correct education is possible to change thinking.

Bhagwant Maan government’s policy focuses on reducing control and demand on the supply of drug addiction. More than 23,000 smugglers were sent to jail, 1,000 kg of heroin was seized in the ‘War Drugs’ campaign started from March 2025, and property worth crores was confiscated. This policy is not only punitive, but also motivates children to stay away from drugs.
