1. When should breastfeeding start?
Breastfeeding is considered best to start within the first one hour of delivery. First milk is called colostrum, which is rich in energy -giving carbs and fats and is very beneficial for a newborn.
2. How many times and how long should breastfeeding be done?
Usually, the baby should breastfeed on demand if you feel hungry. But in general, a newborn should feed 8–9 times a day, and every time feeding should be about 20–30 minutes.
3. How to know that the baby is getting enough milk?
If the infant is urinating 6–7 times a day, his weight is increasing stable and he is active, then there are indications that he is getting enough milk.
4. Should breastfeeding pain?
Initially the nipple may have a slight pain or sensitivity, but should not have rapid or persistent pain. If the pain continues, it can be a problem of positioning or launching of the baby, which can be cured with the help of an expert.
5. What are the physiological benefits of breastfeeding for the sheshu?

Long -term breastfeeding women have a low risk of breast, ovary and uterine cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, especially women who have gustational diabetes in pregnancy.
7. Role of breastfeeding in mental and emotional development of the baby?
Apart from physical benefits, breastfeeding is also helpful in mental growth. It has been clear from research that IQ of breastfeeding infants is more. Breastfeeding leads to emotional security, affinity and deep involvement to the mother.
8. What are the emotional benefits of breastfeeding for mother?
During breastfeeding, hormones come out in the body that strengthen bonding between mother and baby. This gives mental peace to the mother and also reduces the chances of postpartum depression.
9. How long should breastfeeding be done?
According to WHO and Unicef, the baby should only breastfeed for the first 6 months. After this, breastfeeding should be continued with a supplementary diet for 2 years or more. It is best for complete development and good health of the baby.
10. Diet to increase milk?
The principle of breastfeeding is – the higher the demand, the greater the production. Night -time feeding especially increases the amount of milk.
For adequate milk:
- 3–4 liters of water should be drunk a day.
- Nutritional diet should be taken every 2–3 hours, especially food rich in protein and fat.
