Actor Rajesh Kumar, who is currently enjoying the success of his latest blockbuster Saiyaara, opened up about his Rs 2 crore debt and financial struggles. In one of his recent interviews, Rajesh revealed that some years ago, when he took to farming, he was hit with the harsh realities of the business and went bankrupt.
During a podcast with Meri Saheli, Rajesh stated, "The incoming and outgoing flow had gone for a toss. There was no incoming, and I had exhausted all my reserves because of the outgoing. I went under debt of Rs 2 crore. Bankruptcy is a big word, but definitely, I had that feeling with me for a long time. I was not able to generate money for survival."
The 50-year-old actor said that he relied on his family’s support when he wasn't earning himself.
In another interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Rajesh said that when he returned to Mumbai from UK after the shoot of Binny and Family, he couldn't bring anything for his kids as he didn't have enough money.
"I had Rs 2,500 in my bank account when I was in the UK. I travelled back and forth twice during that 24-day shoot, but I couldn't bring back even two chocolates for my kids," he told Dainik Bhaskar.
In Saiyaara, Rajesh is seen as Aneet Padda's father. The film has earned Rs 284.75 crore in just 15 days, and with this, it has become one of the biggest box office hits of 2025.
Rajesh, best known for his iconic role as Rosesh Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, has had a diverse journey in the entertainment industry. Starting with television in the early 2000s, he quickly became a household name due to his impeccable comic timing.
Over the years, Rajesh has taken on a variety of roles in shows like Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and Mrs. & Mr. Sharma Allahabadwale, and ventured into films and OTT projects.
