While cities such as Mumbai Delhi and Bengaluru are often seen as the public face of metropolitan transport hubs a quiet revolution in railway infrastructure is already being witnessed away from the urban spotlight. Outside of the urban rush Rani Kamalapati Railway Station in Bhopal Madhya Pradesh has created new standards for passenger comfort and the development and operation of railway stations. It is the first station in the country to be developed and operated by the private sector with airport-like amenities. Formerly Habibganj Station Rani Kamalapati Station marks a clear departure in passenger amenities and station transformation as Indian Railways pushes forward to modernise Rani Kamalapati Railway Station is the first railway station in the country to be developed and operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this state-of-the-art station on November 15 2021 and it was dedicated to Gond queen Rani Kamalapati in her honor. This station underwent a complete change under the Station Modernization Mission by Indian Railways providing many world-class facilities to passengers that include: A spacious concourse area and a modern waiting lounge An environmentally conscious building powered by solar energy. High-tech security systems with CCTV surveillance 24-hours a day. Food courts and other branded retail outlets to enhance the travel experience.
