The popular singing competition Pakistan Idol is making a grand comeback after ten years.

The show will now feature a new panel of celebrity judges including actor Fawad Khan, singer Zeb Bangash, qawwal Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and musician Bilal Maqsood from the band Strings.

The production rights have been acquired by MH Global from Fremantle. The company plans to relaunch the show in a modern and impactful way.

The first season of Pakistan Idol aired in December 2013. It concluded in April 2014 with Lahore-based singer Zamad Baig winning the title.

That season’s judges included Bushra Ansari, Hadiqa Kiani, and Ali Azmat. During the final episode, over 1 million public votes were recorded.

Originally, the rights for the show format were obtained in 2007. However, due to technical and logistical issues, the launch was delayed until 2013. Eventually, it became the 50th international adaptation of the Pop Idol format.

This time, the producers are introducing a groundbreaking strategy. The new season will air simultaneously on five different television networks across Pakistan. This is the first time in the history of the global Idol franchise that such a broadcasting model will be used.

The goal is to make the show accessible to people from various regions and language backgrounds throughout the country.

According to MH Global’s director Zoya Merchant, this partnership with Fremantle is a major step forward for Pakistan’s entertainment and creative industries. She said the show is more than just a singing competition—it’s a cultural movement.

She also emphasized that Pakistan is rich in musical talent. This platform will highlight that talent not only within the country but also on international platforms.

The show will integrate modern digital interaction for the upcoming season. Online auditions will be held through the Bigen platform. In-person auditions will also be conducted in major cities and remote regions.

Production is expected to begin by the end of this year. Official broadcast and premiere dates will be announced soon
