What is the material

1 cup ragi flour
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup finely chopped capsicum (optional)
2 green chillies, finely chopped (you can do more or less as per your taste)
1/2 inch piece of ginger, grated
Green coriander, finely chopped
Salt taste
Water (to make batter)
Oil or ghee

Method of making ragi chila

  1. First take ragi flour in a large bowl. Add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chillies, ginger and green coriander.
  2. Now add salt and a little water to it and make a thick batter. The solution should be such that it can spread easily on the pan. Cover it for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Heat a non-stick griddle and apply light oil or ghee on it. Take a spoon of batter and pour it on the pan and spread it in round shape.
  4. Bake the cheela from both sides till it turns golden brown. You can also roast it on low heat so that it cooks inside.
  5. Serve the hot ragi cheela with chutney, curd or any vegetable of your choice.
