Florian Thauvin (32) is set to complete a surprise switch to RC Lens, according to a report from The team.
Thauvin has got his career back on track since joining Serie A side Udinese back in January 2023. However, he has previously expressed a desire for a new challenge and he now looks set to be granted his wish.
Lens have quietly been working on a deal to sign the former France international, with talks over a deal beginning three weeks ago. Sang and gold are now nearing an agreement with their Italian counterparts. The deal will be worth around €6m, The team understands.
The deal could quickly be completed within the coming hours. Thauvin himself gave the green light to the deal recently. The team report that he agreed a deal in principle at the end of July. After Paul Pogba and Olivier Giroud, Thauvin could be the latest 2018 World Cup winner to make the move to Ligue 1 this summer.
