India’s danka in fast payment, UPI transaction crosses 19 billion in July

Upi transaction: Ever since the process of online payment started in the country, it has been increasing rapidly. With the facility of transferring fastement of fast money for 24 hours a day through mobile and 365 days of the year, the popularity of UPI has also increased rapidly.

According to recently released data by the National Payment Corporation of India, NPCI, the number of famous UPI transactions reached a record high level of 19.47 billion in July last month, reflecting 35 per cent growth on an annual basis.

Similarly, the total value of the transaction through UPI was recorded at Rs 25.08 lakh crore, which was the second high level after Rs 25.14 lakh crore recorded in the month of May. The price of transaction recorded a growth of 22 per cent on an annual basis.

Daily Transaction Count

According to NPCI, in July, average Daily Transaction Count 628 million and average daily transaction amount was recorded at Rs 80,919 crore through UPI. In June 2025 alone, more than Rs 24.04 lakh crore was paid through UPI and a total of 18.40 billion transactions were done. This progress is clear compared to 13.88 billion transactions this month last year. It has increased by about 32 percent in just one year.

What did the International Monetary Fund say?

According to the recently issued notes by the International Monetary Fund i.e. IMF, ‘Gring Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability’, India has emerged as a global leader in fast payment. UPI is the main reason for this change. The UPI, launched by the National Payments Corporation of India in 2016, has changed the way people sending and taking money in the country.

The UPI system now serves 491 million people and 65 million traders. This adds 675 banks to the same platform, so that people can easily pay without any concern, without thinking which bank they are customers.

India’s Unified Payments Interface i.e. UPI has also become the world’s number one real-time payment system. UPI has gained an edge by overtaking the visa in daily transactions processing. UPI handles more than 64 crore transactions every day compared to 63 crore 90 lakh transactions of visa. UPI has achieved this achievement in only 9 years.
