EPFO's new face authentication rule has come into force across the country from 1 August 2025. However, in special cases like international employees and citizens of Nepal-Bhutan, the facility of issuing UAN from the company will still be available under the old process. On 30 July 2025, EPFO announced three new services based on face authentication in the Umang app. These include UAN allotment and activation, activation of Existing UAN through face authentication, face authentication based services for already activated UAN. Click on Allotment and Activation 'Option. If Aadhaar Face RD App is not installed, the system will ask you to install.
