- 1 cup yellow moong dal
- 1 teaspoon ginger-green chili paste
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Taste salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon oil
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander
- 1 teaspoon asafoetida
Method of preparation:
- First wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 4-5 hours.
- After the lentils swell, remove the water and grind it in a mixer.
- Now prepare a thick batter by mixing some water in ground lentils.
- Add turmeric, salt, ginger-pepper paste, cumin, asafetida and coriander and keep the batter for 10 minutes so that all the tastes are well.
- After this, heat a non-stick griddle and spread some oil on it.
- After heating the griddle on medium flame, spread the batter on the pan with the help of a splash.
- Cook the cheela on low flame till it turns golden.
- After cooking on one side, turn the cheela and bake it well from the other side.
- Serve hot cheela with green chutney, tomato sauce or curd.
