Who is Baba Vanga?
Born in 1911 in present-day North Macedonia, Vanga went blind in a childhood storm. But what she said she gained afterwards; premonitions of the future, made her a household name throughout Eastern Europe. She came to be known over time as the "Nostradamus of the Balkans."Her disciples think she predicted great events in the world with an accuracy that can only be described as uncanny: 9/11, the Chernobyl disaster, even the rise of ISIS. She died in 1996, but her predictions continue to do the rounds each year; part warning, part fascination.
What exactly did she say?
Prior to the world dubbing her a mystic, Vanga lived a humble existence. She was not formally educated, didn't write books, and most of her prophecies were recorded by others—interpreters, guests, and even Bulgarian government agents. Her forecasts tended to be cryptic, metaphorical, or symbolic. And yet, several claim her statements only made sense once the events had transpired, giving them a chillingly retrospective clarity. What She Allegedly Got Right
Let's examine the most frequently referenced "hits":
• 9/11 Attacks (2001)
She allegedly stated: "Two steel birds will fall on the American brothers. The wolves will be howling in a bush…"
Folks cite this as a prophecy of the Twin Towers collapsing during the presidency of George W. Bush. Critics say it's too vague to include.
•Chernobyl Disaster (1986)
Vanga reportedly foretold a "huge nuclear catastrophe in the North," citing illness, mutated vegetation, and toxic air. Most interpret this as a warning about Chernobyl, though again, details are argued.
•Obama's Presidency
She apparently foretold the 44th US President would be African-American but added he'd be the "last." Clearly, that wasn't the case, unless taken metaphorically.
Not all of Vanga's prophecies have stood the test of time.
•Told World War III would erupt between 2010 and 2014.
•Predicted Europe would be a "wasteland" by 2016.
•Said by 2023, Earth's orbit would change—triggering catastrophic climate change.
None of this happened, at least not in the ways she envisioned. But her defenders often say these predictions were symbolic or misinterpreted.
What She Allegedly Predicted for the Future
Here’s where it gets even more speculative. These predictions are floating around the internet, but it’s unclear how many can be reliably traced back to her:•2025: Europe will face a major population crisis.
•2033: Polar ice caps will melt, raising ocean levels.
•2046: Organ cloning for humans becomes commonplace.
•2100: Artificial sun will light up the dark side of the earth.
•2130: Underwater civilizations will arise, perhaps aided by extraterrestrial beings.
•3797: The earth will be unlivable; humans will settle on a new world.
Sci-fi? Perhaps. But true believers interpret these as blueprints to an alien, far-off future.
