Team India put up a brilliant display on the final day of the fifth Test against England at the Oval this week to eke out a six-run win and level the five-match series at 2-2. The hero of the Oval Test win and the ‘Player of the Match’ was Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj who claimed nine wickets in the match – including five in the second innings. Thanks to Siraj’s brilliant show in the final Test the Gujarat Titans pacer has made a massive jump of 12 positions to career-best No 15 spot in the ICC Test bowling rankings. India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to dominate the rankings at the No. 1 position in spite of missing the final Test at the Oval. Siraj ended the series with the highest wicket-taker with 23 scalps from five Test – the only bowler apart from Chris Woakes to play all the games. He claimed five-wicket hauls in the second Test at Edgbaston and another one in the final Test at the Oval. England fast bowlers Atkinson and Josh Tongue also attained career-best positions after finishing with eight wickets each in the match. Atkinson is in the top 10 for the first time while Tongue is up 14 places to 46th position. Yashasvi Jaiswal rises to No. 5 In the Test batting rankings England batter Joe Root firmed up his position at the top with his third century in as many matches while Harry Brook’s 98-ball 111 has helped him claw back to second position again.
