Senior Trinamool Congress leader and four -time MP Kalyan Banerjee has once again attacked his own party MP Mahua Moitra. Talking to reporters on Saturday (August 9), Banerjee described him as ‘low standard’ and said that talking on him is a waste of time and energy. Banerjee, MP from Srempur, said, “That woman is not a part of my subject and is very low. There is no point in talking on them. I got angry for him and said something to Didi (Mamta Banerjee), now I regret her.”

He said that the message of a junior lawyer changed his thinking and now he feels that it was wrong to pay attention to this subject. “It was a waste of time and energy. They are not entitled to my attention. I made a mistake that I gave them importance.”

Kalyan Banerjee resigned from the post of Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha after Mahua Moitra called him a ‘pig’ in a podcast of India Today. After accepting the resignation, the party appointed Kakoli Ghosh Dasidar as the new Chief Whip and Shatabdi Roy as the new Deputy Leader. Mahua Moitra, in an interview, reacted to Banerjee’s remarks about his marriage, “You don’t wrestle with a pig, because the pig likes it and you get dirty. India are deeply anti-feminine, sexually disappointed, distorted men and are present in every party in Parliament.”

Reacting to his statement, Kalyan Banerjee wrote on X, “It is unfortunate to address a fellow MP in public podcast by Mahua Moitra with inhuman words like ‘pig’ and it reflects the deep neglect of the basic standards of decent dialogue.” He further said, “Those who believe that abusive words are an alternative to logic, they should see a mirror of their politics. Abusing by name and making indecent gestures is not a power, but a sign of insecurity.”

The dispute within the TMC has now spread to the internal politics of the party with personal allegations and counter-allegations, and it is believed that it may affect the party’s strategy and image in the assembly elections in the coming days.
