Labubu dolls might look cute and harmless, but in this case, one of them indirectly led to a massive, jaw-dropping loss. In China’s Shanghai, a family visit ended with shattered glass, a ruined chandelier, and a heated debate about boundaries and compensation.
The Doll That Started It All:
Labubu dolls aren’t just toys anymore, they’re fashion statements. From Rihanna and Dua Lipa to BLACKPINK’s LISA, celebrities and influencers can’t get enough of them. In the home of popular influencer Little Azheng, better known as Tail Brother, one such doll was proudly displayed, even decked out in sparkling jewellery.
But when a young relative spotted it, things took a shocking turn. The boy asked for the doll, but Tail Brother refused. That’s when the child, in a fit of anger, hurled a remote control straight into the mirrored glass ceiling, worth about Rs 12 lakh. As if that wasn’t enough, an Italian crystal chandelier worth Rs 36 lakh also came crashing down.
“They even wanted to pay in two instalments,” Tail Brother revealed. “Elders always love using kinship as emotional blackmail. It is incredibly boundary-crossing.”
The Hidden Worth Of The Labubu:
Adding to the irony, this wasn’t an ordinary Labubu doll. The ears, hands, and feet were decorated with large gemstone rings, making their true value hard to estimate. While the family brushed off the loss, Tail Brother said the repairs alone for the glass ceiling would require replacing all remaining panels, costing far more than what they were willing to pay.
