How much electricity does a 3KW solar panel generate?

India gets an average of 5-6 hours of good sunlight. Based on this, a 3 kW solar system can generate 12 to 15 units of electricity per day. This power may be enough to run many appliances in your home, but it is important to understand some things to run a heavy appliance like AC.

Power consumption of AC

A normal 1.5 ton AC consumes about 1.5 to 2 kW of electricity per hour. If you run it for 8 hours a day, it will consume 12 to 16 units of electricity. On the other hand, a 1 ton AC consumes 1 to 1.2 kW of electricity per hour, i.e. 8 to 10 units in 8 hours.

3KW solar system can run AC

The power generated from a 3kW solar system may be sufficient to run a 1 ton AC, but it may be limited to run a 1.5 ton AC, especially if other appliances are also running then running the AC may be a bit difficult. But if you want to run a 1.5 ton AC, then you will have to reduce the consumption of other appliances or choose a 5kW solar system.

Like 1 ton AC for 8 hours, 4-5 ceiling fans (60 watts per fan, total 240 watts), 4 tubelights/bulbs (20 watts each, total 80 watts), refrigerator (200 watts), TV (100 watts), mobile/laptop charging (80 watts), washing machine (500 watts, for a limited time).
