Bank Holiday In August: Banks will be closed or operate in limited capacity on certain days in August as various calendar holidays are scheduled this month. All banks across India will be closed on Friday, August 15, 2025, for the Independence Day which is a national holiday. This will be the 79th Independence Day for India.

Parsi New Year: Parsi New Year (Shahenshahi) coincides with Independence Day and is observed as a bank holiday in certain states, including Maharashtra, on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Janmashtami: The main Janmashtami holiday is on Saturday, August 16, 2025, which is already a bank holiday for most banks due to it being the third Saturday of the month. The festival is celebrated on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the Hindu month of Bhadrapada.

Ganesh Chaturthi: Ganesh Chaturthi is a regional holiday and will take place on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Banks will be closed in specific states and cities, including Mumbai, Belapur, Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Panaji, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Vijayawada. It is not a nationwide holiday.
