The District and Sessions Judge East Court in Karachi has accepted an appeal against the rejection of YouTuber Yasir Shami’s acquittal plea in the case of leaking indecent photos and videos of the famous TV host Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
According to News, during the hearing at the District and Sessions Judge East Court Karachi, the appeal against the rejection of Yasir Shami’s acquittal plea was approved by the court.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that there was no evidence against Yasir Shami. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report also did not contain any evidence against him.
The lawyer informed the court that the FIA had submitted a supplementary challan stating insufficient evidence against Yasir Shami and had recommended removing his name from the case.
However, the Judicial Magistrate had earlier rejected both the FIA’s report and Yasir Shami’s acquittal plea.
Following that, an appeal was filed in the Sessions Court against the Judicial Magistrate’s decision.
The complaint about the circulation of Aamir Liaquat Hussain’s indecent photos was filed by his daughter.
It is worth mentioning that Aamir Liaquat Hussain was found unconscious at his residence in June 2022 and was shifted to the hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Prior to his death, Aamir Liaquat Hussain was reportedly suffering from severe mental stress. Weeks before his passing, inappropriate videos involving him and his last wife Dania Malik had gone viral.
After the circulation of these videos, Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away. A few weeks later, in July 2022, his first wife Bushra Iqbal, along with their son and daughter, filed a case against Dania Malik with the FIA Karachi.
Subsequently, the FIA registered a case against Dania Malik under sections 20, 21, and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 on October 10, 2022, on charges of leaking indecent videos.
Following the FIR, Dania Malik was arrested by the FIA in December 2022 from Lodhran, Punjab, but was later released on bail by a Karachi court.
