On Thursday August 14 just before Independence Day two action thrillers will clash at the box office. On one side is Spy Universes War 2 which this time stars Junior NTR and Kiara Advani alongside Hrithik Roshan. On the other side is Lokesh Kanagarajs Tamil crime drama Coolie which stars superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. While War 2 directed by Ayan Mukherjee is a sequel to War released in 2019 Coolie is a stand-alone film. Advance booking for both has already begun. Can Rajiniaknths Coolie beat Hrithik Roshans War 2? The countdown to the release has begun and in the initial figures of pre-booking Coolie has beaten War 2 badly. However there are still three days left including Monday so the tables could turn by Wednesday! Before we look at the advance booking figures it is important to know that the advance booking for War 2 started on Sunday August 10. While the advance booking for Coolie started on the evening of August 8 with limited screens. As of Monday afternoon 6978 shows are being pre-booked for War 2 in Hindi Tamil and Telugu versions. While for Coolie advance booking is going on for 6111 shows in Tamil Telugu Hindi and Kannada. War 2 advance booking report According to the report of Sacnilk till 12 noon on Monday a total of 67886 tickets of War 2 have been booked in advance for the opening day. Due to this it has earned a gross of Rs 2.40 crore. The Hindi version has earned 2.20 crores which includes all three 2D IMAX and 4DX. The Tamil version has earned 5.53 lakhs and the Telugu version has grossed 14.62 lakhs. Coolie Advance Booking Report On the other hand Rajinikanth starrer Coolie has grossed Rs 14.80 crore in advance booking till Monday morning. So far 716949 tickets of this film have been sold for the first day. The highest pre-booking of this Lokesh Kanagaraj film is obviously happening in Tamil from where it has earned 14.39 crores. Apart from this 29.25 lakhs have been earned from Hindi 10.41 lakhs from Telugu and 1.07 lakhs from Kannada version. Both the films have a pan India star cast An interesting coincidence is that the makers have tried their best to make both the films pan-India. While Telugu superstar Junior NTR is playing the villain in War 2 Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is doing a cameo in Coolie. Budget and cast of Coolie The budget of Coolie which is being made under the banner of Sun Pictures is said to be Rs 375 crore. This is the 171st film of Rajinikanths career. It also stars Nagarjuna and Shruti Haasan. With Coolie Rajinikanth is also completing his 50 years in the film industry. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander. Budget and cast of War 2 On the other hand there is more pressure on War 2. This is because it is the sequel of a blockbuster film. War which came in 2019 featured Hrithik Roshan along with Tiger Shroff Ashutosh Rana and Vaani Kapoor. While Hrithik and Ashutosh will be seen again in their roles of a superspy and his boss in this sequel this time Kiara Advani is the lead actress and Junior NTR is coming as the villain. The budget of War 2 is around Rs 400 crore.
