BJP leader and actor Mithun Chakraborty has ridiculed Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over his recent war threat to India following New Delhi’s move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. Mixing sarcasm with blunt rhetoric, Chakraborty issued a sharp response during a media interaction.

"Agar aisi baatein karte rahenge aur hamari khopdi sanak gayi toh phir ek ke baad ek BrahMos chalega...(If he keeps talking like this and we lose our patience, then BrahMos missiles will be fired one after another). We have also thought of building a dam where 140 crore Indians will urinate. Then, when we open that dam, there will be a tsunami. I have nothing against the people of Pakistan; my remarks are only for him,” Chakraborty said.

His comments came soon after Bilawal Bhutto, speaking at a cultural event in Sindh, accused India of ‘barbarism’ and warned that “every Pakistani is ready for war” if India interferes with the Indus waters.

Bhutto asserted that Pakistan had always advocated peace but claimed that India’s actions had initiated a confrontation. “If you think of carrying out such an attack towards the Indus, then the people of every province of Pakistan are ready to confront you. This is a war you will surely lose. We will never bow down and are ready to reclaim all six rivers,” he declared.

The heated exchange comes against the backdrop of heightened India-Pakistan tensions following the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and military confrontations earlier this year.

Earlier, Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir, during his second visit to the United States since the recent conflict, also issued a nuclear threat to India. Speaking at a black-tie dinner in Tampa hosted by businessman and honorary consul Adnan Asad, Munir claimed Pakistan was ready to “take half the world down” if faced with an existential threat.

“We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world with us. We will wait for India to build a dam, and then we will destroy it with ten missiles. The Indus River is not India’s family property… we have no shortage of missiles, Alhamdulillah,” he said.

Munir also compared Pakistan’s economic and strategic position with India’s, describing India as “a Mercedes coming on a highway like a Ferrari” and Pakistan as “a dump truck full of gravel”, suggesting that in a collision, “the car would be the real loser.”
