When did the internet come to India?
According to a Digit Inn report, the Internet was publicly started in India on 15 August 1995. Which was being operated by Vsnl. With the price of internet being very expensive, the speed was also very low. It used to run with 9.6kbps speed, due to which very few people used. At that time, running a net for the general public was nothing short of a dream.

It is a matter of 1986, when many institutes and educational institutions were added to each other like the Education and Research Network (ERNET). During this time the use of internet was limited and common people are hardly known about it.
Problems in 90s
Although the Internet has knocked in India in the 90s, it is used by very few people due to speed and connection breakdown. Despite this, some companies started the initiative to spread the Internet to the general public. In 1998, the first company called Satyam Infoway came to light. Gradually, the talk reached broadband, where many improvements were made in internet speed and quality. In 2004, the Government of India adopted the broadband policy and the Internet got a new direction.

Since 2015, there was a rapid increase in the number of Internet users in India. By 2023, more than 70 million people in India are using phones and data.
