New Delhi, August 13, 2025 – Bank customers across India should plan their financial tasks in advance this week, as several states are set to observe consecutive holidays. From August 15 to August 17, 2025, many banks will remain closed due to Independence Day, Janmashtami, and the regular Sunday weekend.

In addition, on August 13, banks in Manipur are closed for Patriots’ Day. With multiple public holidays falling within a span of just a few days, customers in certain regions may face a three-day banking break, potentially affecting services like cash transactions, cheque clearances, and other banking operations.

15 August 2025 (Friday) – All banks across the country will remain closed in observance of Independence Day, a national holiday.

16 August 2025 (Saturday) – On this day, banks will remain closed in several states due to Janmashtami/Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. States observing the holiday include Gujarat, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Srinagar, and Andhra Pradesh.

17 August 2025 (Sunday) – All banks across the country will be closed for the regular weekly holiday.

Although Janmashtami will be observed in many regions, August 16 is a working Saturday in several states. Banks will remain open in Tripura, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi, Goa, and Himachal Pradesh.

This means customers in these regions can carry out banking transactions as usual on this day.

Bank customers in states with consecutive holidays are advised to complete urgent banking transactions in advance. This will help avoid delays in services such as cheque processing, fund transfers, and cash deposits/withdrawals. With the upcoming long weekend, ATM withdrawals may also see heavy demand in some areas, so planning ahead can prevent inconvenience.
