Chief Minister's Statement on Partition Horrors
Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi remarked that the British and certain vested interests played a significant role in dividing India for their own political gains.
In his address on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, observed annually on August 14, Majhi expressed that modern India honors the bravery and resilience of those who endured the atrocities of 1947.
While participating in a Tiranga Yatra in Cuttack, he encouraged everyone to take pride in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abiyan’ initiative.
Majhi emphasized that Partition Horrors Remembrance Day serves as a reminder of the dark times in history when the British and other vested interests fragmented the nation for their political motives.
He noted that the partition in 1947 led to the displacement of millions, the separation of countless families, and the tragic loss of innocent lives based on religious identity.
The chief minister stated, 'Today's India stands on the foundation of their bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering determination. On this day, we honor their struggles and pay tribute to their sacrifices.'
He further mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the BJP government is not only acknowledging the past but also rectifying historical injustices.
Majhi highlighted the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir and the realization of the vision for ‘One Nation-One Law-One Flag’. He asserted that India today is steadfast in maintaining its integrity and sovereignty, responding robustly to any aggressors.
The chief minister joined thousands in the Tiranga Yatra organized by the BJP, stating that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which celebrates the national flag, is being conducted nationwide from August 12 for three days. He participated in a rally in the 42 Mouza locality of Cuttack Sadar, aiming to promote respect for the national flag and raise awareness among citizens.
