Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, while counting the achievements of his eight and a half year term in the House on the fourth day of the monsoon session of the assembly, fiercely took the opposition. He compared the reign of opposition parties from 1947 to 2017 with his government’s tenure from 2017 to 2025 and accused the opposition of promoting family thinking. The Chief Minister termed the opposition’s ‘PDA’ slogan as ‘Family Development Authority’ and took a dig at his limited thinking.

In his address, CM Yogi described the inclusive and overall development as the basis of the development of Uttar Pradesh and India. He said, “There should be development in every assembly constituency and the benefit of welfare schemes should reach everyone without discrimination. Including development can only make the concept of ‘developed UP’ and ‘developed India’.”

Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that in his discussion, development seems less and more desire for power.

He took the example of Charvak and took the opposition for his family thinking. He said that you are limited to your family only. Your ‘Family Development Authority’ approach reflects Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy of ‘Kup Manduk’ philosophy. The world is moving on the path of competition, but you are still limited to family.

CM Yogi, keeping the bitter truth of the past of Uttar Pradesh, said that since 1960, the state moved towards a steady decline. He said that despite having huge strength, fertile land, rivers and manpower, UP became the most sick state in the country after the 1980s due to policy apathy.

Plans were made, announcements were made, but there was neither will nor resolution of implementation. Referring to the problems of that era, he said that the youth did not get employment, there was no relief to the farmers and there was a lack of trust among investors.

Crime and anarchy were dominated. Death due to diseases like migration, poverty, encephalitis and dengue, corruption, discrimination and nepotism kept UP holding UP.

The Chief Minister highlighted the changes under the double engine government after 2017. He said that the rule of law was established after 2017. The policy of zero tolerance against criminals was adopted.

A favorable environment was created for industries and became a dream destination for UP investors. The projects are being implemented without discrimination and appeasement. He proudly said that today UP is identified with good governance. Better law and order, strong infrastructure and positive thinking of the government have brought UP to new heights.

He presented effective figures of UP’s economic progress. He informed that in 2016-17, UP’s GSDP was Rs 13 lakh crore, which is expected to reach Rs 35 lakh crore by the end of this financial year. UP’s contribution to national GDP has increased from 8 per cent to 9.5 per cent.

The per capita income has increased from 43 thousand rupees to 1 lakh 20 thousand rupees. Exports have increased from Rs 84 thousand crore to Rs 1 lakh 86 thousand crore and the state budget has increased from 3 lakh crores to 8 lakh crore rupees. The NITI Aayog’s Physical Health Index has recorded an improvement of 8.9 points.

Digital transactions have increased from Rs 122 crore to Rs 1400 crore. The Chief Minister said that UP is moving towards becoming a surplus state from sick state.

Referring to India’s economic progress, the Chief Minister said that India was the sixth largest economy in the world in 1947, but until 1980 it slipped to 11th position.

After 2014, the country progressed under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reached the seventh in 2017, fifth in 2024 and fourth in 2025. He lashed out at the opposition, saying that you had brought the sixth economy to 11th place, but today India is giving its power and power to the world.
