New Delhi. The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to make it public on the website of the District Election Officer, including the list of about 65 lakh people excluded from or removed from Bihar’s draft voter list. During the hearing on the ongoing dispute over voter list revision in Bihar, the Election Commission on Thursday made its arguments before the Supreme Court. Inaugurating the arguments, the Election Commission told the court that it had enough power to take some decisions. During this time, the Election Commission agreed to share the list of voters who have been dead, migrated or transferred at the district level in the Supreme Court. After this, the Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to disclose the identity of 65 lakh voters removed from the voter list by August 19.

The Supreme Court has also directed the Election Commission to publicly publicize it through local newspapers, Doordarshan, radio or any official social media platforms. The Supreme Court has said that a list of 65 lakh people should also be displayed in all panchayat buildings and block development and panchayat offices so that the list of people can be reached. People suffering from the removal of the name of the draft voter list in Bihar can submit a claim with the Aadhaar card. With this, the court postponed the hearing of the case.

The Election Commission also said that while working in an atmosphere of political hatred, there is hardly any decision that does not have a dispute. We are trapped in a conflict between political parties. EVM is good if they win. If they lose then EVM is bad. On SIR in Bihar, the Election Commission said that according to an estimate, about 6.5 crore people in Bihar do not need to submit any documents for SIR.

During the hearing, the Supreme Court asked the Election Commission, ‘Why can’t you tell the names of those who have died or have migrated or have gone to other constituencies?’ The court also said that why can’t you put these names on the display board or website? This can lead to corrective measures within 30 days.

Next hearing on 22 August
