On August 16, 2025, devotees across India will celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna with fasting, midnight prayers, and heartfelt offerings. Among the most cherished traditions is preparing sweet bhog for little Kanha. Here are six easy and sacred recipes you can make at home:

1. 🥥 Coconut-Mishri Peda

Ingredients:

  • Grated raw coconut – 2 cups
  • Mishri (rock sugar) – 1 cup
  • Mawa – 250g
  • Powdered sugar – 50g
  • Almond & pistachio crumbs

Method: Roast mawa until it leaves the pan. Mix in sugar, shape into pedas, and press lightly into a mix of coconut, mishri, and nuts.

2. 🍚 Samak Kasar (Vrat Rice Sweet)

Ingredients:

  • Samak rice – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Coconut pieces, banana slices, tulsi leaves

Method: Grind and lightly roast samak rice. Mix with sugar and garnish with coconut, banana, and tulsi.

3. 🍯 Sweet Jaggery Makhana

Ingredients:

  • Makhana – 100g
  • Crushed jaggery – 100g
  • White sesame – 1 tbsp
  • Ghee for frying

Method: Fry makhana in ghee. Prepare jaggery syrup (one-thread consistency), mix in makhana and sesame.

4. 🌿 Coriander Barfi

Ingredients:

  • Whole coriander seeds – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 cup
  • Cardamom powder, ghee

Method: Roast and grind coriander. Make sugar syrup, mix in coriander and cardamom. Spread on a greased plate and cut into squares.

5. 🥛 Panchamrit

Ingredients:

  • Milk – 2 cups
  • Curd – ¼ cup
  • Sugar – 50g
  • Honey, ghee, Gangajal, tulsi leaves, chopped nuts

Method: Mix all ingredients and garnish with tulsi and nuts. Serve as sacred prasad.

6. 🧈 Makhan-Mishri Ladoo

Ingredients:

  • Cow’s milk butter – 250g
  • Powdered sugar – 2 tbsp
  • Mishri – ½ cup
  • Pistachio crumbs, tulsi leaves

Method: Whip butter with sugar, mix in mishri and pistachios. Chill until firm, shape into laddoos, and garnish with tulsi.
