Renowned folk singer Sanam Marvi has revealed that whenever she goes to perform Umrah or visit the holy shrine of Karbala, she is taunted and criticized because of her profession as a singer.

Sanam Marvi recently appeared on morning show, where she spoke openly about various personal and professional matters.

During the program, she shared that due to her association with music, she faces significant trolling on social media.

According to her, she is a human being like everyone else—she too has the desire to worship and engage in spiritual practices, but people fail to understand that.

The singer said that most of the criticism she faces comes when she posts about her religious activities. People target her for performing acts of worship because of her singing career and leave inappropriate comments on her posts.

Sanam Marvi shared that when she performs Umrah, people comment things like, “Now even you are going for Umrah?”

Similarly, when she visits Karbala, she receives the same kind of judgmental remarks due to her career in music.

She added that after returning from Karbala or performing Umrah, when she resumes her work, the taunts increase. People question her saying, “Weren’t you just back from Umrah? And now you’re back to this work?”

Sanam Marvi emphasized that singing is her profession—it is her livelihood, and she must continue it. She stressed that like anyone else, she too wants to worship and that there is nothing wrong if she or other singers perform Umrah. Social media users should not pass such judgmental remarks.
