A show featuring Kevin Costner has become one of the most streamed programmes in Netflix history.

The show will receive a spin-off in the coming months, with production underway. Fans have plenty of time to kill before the release of said series, but have been returning to the original programme, which is streaming on Netflix while they wait.

It means a spike in viewing figures for those who are watching the five series of Yellowstone, which has been viewed for 686 million hours total by Netflix users.

The viewing figures suggest it's one of the most popular programmes on the platform, which boasts thousands of television series and films.

According to numbers from FlixPatrol, the Kevin Costner-starring Yellowstone has been binged for the impressive 686 million hours between January 2024 and January 2025.

Despite the massive amount of hours spent on the show, users are still mixed on Yellowstone as a piece of quality television.

While some have dubbed it the "greatest show of all time" others were left underwhelmed by the latest season, and overwhelmed by the sheer number of spin-offs planned.

A post to the r/Yellowstone subreddit has seen fans share their thoughts on the show, with a fifth season scheduled for 2028. One fan wrote: "That's a long time to wait for the ending. I just don't want to get invested too much and be left on a four-year cliffhanger."

Another added: "My wife and I just started season 4 and this is our thoughts on it. We don't think it's written very well. A ton of dropped plot lines, huge moments that don't actually have any meaning, and a lot of filler scenes.

"That being said - it is a fun watching experience because we get to yell at the TV a lot, which is one of our favorite things to do. There are just so many stupid things that happen that don't make sense."

Meanwhile, a third shared: "I enjoyed this show and liked all seasons. Especially the last one was really good."

Despite mixed opinions from members of the public, others have hailed the show as one of the best around. One user wrote: "One of the greatest shows of all time.

"The writing and direction by Taylor Sheridan is absolutely flawless. Great story and amazing characters that you fall in love with."

Other fans have suggested the show is not perfect, but those who have issues with it are "spoilt".
