Incident at the Jagannath Temple
Puri: Authorities have detained a man from Ranchi, Jharkhand, for attempting to scale the Shree Jagannath Temple on Saturday, according to police reports.
The individual, named Pancham Mahot, managed to ascend approximately 5 to 7 feet on the southern side of the historic 12th-century temple before being apprehended by the Shree Jagannath Temple Police (JTP).
Currently, he is undergoing questioning at the Singhadwara police station.
Initial investigations suggest that the man may be suffering from mental health issues, as indicated by a police officer.
This incident follows a recent event where another individual from Ganjam district in Odisha climbed the temple, raising security alarms. Additionally, on August 13, a man had inscribed threatening messages on the walls of the Budhi Maa Thakurani temple located along Puri's Heritage Corridor, according to police.
