Joyful Celebrations of Janmashtami
Today, the auspicious festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy throughout the nation. The birthplace of Lord Krishna, Mathura, along with Vrindavan, witnessed a remarkable celebration, attracting millions of devotees immersed in devotion.
Devotional Waves in Mathura and Vrindavan
On the occasion of Janmashtami, Vrindavan saw an influx of nearly 1 million devotees. Long queues formed outside the Banke Bihari Temple as worshippers patiently awaited their turn for darshan. Special events were also organized at the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura. This year, the temple was adorned with the theme 'Operation Sindoor,' featuring flowers specially sourced from Kolkata and Bengaluru to decorate the Thakurji's floral abode. The attire of Thakurji became a focal point, crafted by local artisans over six months using gold and silver threads, showcasing a beautiful blend of the seven colors of the rainbow.
Festivities Across the Country
In other parts of the country, excitement was palpable as well. The Janmashtami celebrations at the Shri Nathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan, commenced with morning Mangala Darshan, where Thakurji was bathed in Panchamrit made from milk, yogurt, ghee, sugar, and honey. At midnight, a 21-gun salute will honor Kanha's birth, followed by another Panchamrit bath for Thakurji.
In Mumbai, Maharashtra, the festival featured the traditional Dahi Handi event, with enthusiastic participation from the youth. Meanwhile, at the Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat, rituals including bathing, abhishek, and Shringar Aarti for Lord Dwarkanath were conducted. The ISKCON temple in Bengaluru, Karnataka, also saw a large gathering of devotees eager to partake in the celebrations of Lord Krishna's birth.
