Be it a festival or a feast for special guests—if you want to try something royal and desi in sweets, then Shahi Tukda is a perfect choice. This sweet that has been in existence since the Mughalai era is not only amazing in taste, but also looks so royal that everyone will ask—”How was this made?”

Ingredients for making Shahi Tukda:

  • Bread slices – 6
  • Milk – 1 liter
  • Sugar – ½ cup
  • Ghee – 3-4 tbsp
  • Saffron strands – 7-8
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
  • Cashews, almonds, pistachios – 2-3 tbsp
  • Rose water – 1 teaspoon

👩‍🍳 Method of Preparation:

  1. Cut bread slices diagonally and fry in ghee till they become golden and crispy.
  2. Boil the milk in a pan and cook till it thickens.
  3. Add sugar, saffron and cardamom powder in it and make it like rabri.
  4. Place the fried bread slices on a plate and pour rabri over them so that they get soaked well.
  5. Sprinkle chopped dry fruits and rose water on top.
  6. Chill in the fridge for a while or serve hot—it will taste amazing both ways.

🎉 Tips to make it even more royal:

  • Make the rabri thicker so that the taste becomes rich.
  • Fry the bread in ghee only-this gives the real taste.
  • The more dry fruits there are, the more royal the dish will look.

🤤 Conclusion:

Shahi Tukda is a sweet dish that wins hearts every time. It is easy to make, but its taste and look is no less than a five star dessert. Next time when you have a craving for sweets, do try this royal recipe.
