From Zeenat Aman to Aryan Khan: The US University Shared by Two Bollywood Eras

The Bollywood Diva from 1970s and the newest Director in the same industry in 2025 share a unique academic link - the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California, United States (US).
One of the world's top private research universities known for its film, business, and arts programmes is a common link between the two generations of Bollywood personalities - Zeenat Aman and Aryan Khan.
Zeenat Amanullah Khan, professionally known as Zeenat Aman, was born in 1951. She completed her schooling in Panchgani and attended University of Southern California in Los Angeles on student aid. However, due to unknown reasons, Zeenat Aman was unable to complete her graduation.
A few decades later, the 1997 born Aryan Khan, eldest son of Shah Rukh Khan, also went to the same university to pursue a Film Degree in the US university. Khan did his schooling at Mumbai's Dhirubhai Ambani International School until age 15, after which he attended the Sevenoaks School in Kent. In 2020, Khan graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in film and television production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
Following this, he launched a luxury collective brand in 2022, followed by a premium liquor brand of Vodka, luxury apparel brand, and then turned towards direction. He is currently in news for his upcoming directorial debut, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, on which he served as showrunner, writer, and director.

University of Southern California (USC) is a private research university in Los Angeles, California, United States. It was founded in 1880 by Robert M. Widney. The university consists of the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, its liberal arts school, along with 22 other undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools. Additionally, USC presently has ten Nobel Laureates on staff, and its affiliates include eleven Rhodes Scholars, twelve Marshall Scholars, six MacArthur Fellows, 181 Fulbright Scholars, and one Turing Award winner.
