By granting some foreign nationals special visa exemption cards, Vietnam is taking a significant step to draw in top worldwide talent. For a maximum of five years, beginning on August 15, these cards will permit repeated entry into the nation without requiring a new visa application each time.
The goal of the initiative, which was revealed via Vietnam Briefing, is to attract well-known people who can significantly advance the socioeconomic development of the country. This action is directly related to Vietnam’s overarching objective of developing into a hub that is open, competitive, and internationally connected, particularly in light of its recently enacted International Financial Center (IFC) regulations.
The government intends to promote cooperation, investment, and innovation in a number of industries by providing long-term visa exemptions.
Who May Apply?
- Influential people from all around the globe are the aim of the visa exemption program. Applicants that qualify include:
- Senior judicial officials, representatives of international organizations, parliaments, and foreign countries.
- Renowned researchers, scientists, and academics from top research institutes and universities.
- CEOs and executives from well-known international corporations, especially those with a significant brand or cultural impact.
- High-level corporate executives, investors, and entrepreneurs all support socioeconomic growth.
- notable individuals have a worldwide influence in academics, culture, or economy.
Candidates must be nominated by a recognized Vietnamese agency or organization and possess a valid passport. Their presence or employment in Vietnam needs to be able to significantly advance the development of the nation.
Principal Advantages for Cardholders
The new visa exemption cardholders will benefit from:
- many visits to Vietnam during the course of the five-year validity term without submitting a new visa application.
- Both digital and physical card forms have the same legal standing.
- quicker and easier admissions procedures, perfect for regular travelers.
- An integrated chip in the physical cards will carry the holder’s name, passport number, and biometric information, among other personal information.
- The card will be granted to foreign nationals who are currently residing in Vietnam after their Level 2 electronic ID account has been obtained or their biometric data has been linked to the National Immigration Database.
Enhancing Vietnam’s International Presence
According to the journal, this endeavor is a component of Vietnam’s broader attempts to modernize its commercial and immigration rules. Vietnam is establishing itself as a major participant in the global arena by facilitating the work and collaboration of investors, scholars, and world leaders inside the nation.
In addition to strengthening the nation’s economy, officials think the policy would open up important economic, cultural, and scientific prospects, enhancing Vietnam’s standing as a top talent destination worldwide.
