Noida-based Astrotalk, a startup that provides astrology consulting services, has appointed Deepak Khetan as its chief financial officer, as it plans to go public within the next two years, the company said on Monday.
Khetan joins Astrotalk after having served as the CFO in organisations such as GLS Group India, GlobalBees, and Edelweiss Financial Services Limited.
In his new role, he will oversee financial planning, risk management, compliance, and investor relations. Khetan will also be responsible for preparing Astrotalk for its IPO, while driving strategic investments, international expansion, and long-term growth.
“As we are scaling and launching in new geographies, our finances have also started becoming more complex. We wanted a strong leader with good pedigree and experience who could handle our finances with airtight compliance,” said founder and chief executive Puneet Gupta.
Astrotalk operates on a revenue-sharing model with more than 20,000 active astrologers on its platform. It also has over 700,000 daily active users. The company's pricing structure ranges from Rs 10 to Rs 200 per minute. According to Astrotalk, it is operating at a revenue run-rate of Rs 1,600 crore.
The company saw its operating revenue for FY24 more than double to Rs 651 crore as it expanded its presence in domestic and international markets. Its net profit increased more than ten-fold to Rs 94 crore for the year ended March 2024. It is yet to file financial statements for FY25 with the Registrar of Companies.
“Preparing for an IPO is like preparing for a marathon, it requires precision, strategy, and the right team. I look forward to building the financial discipline and systems that will support the company’s ambitions for years to come,” said Khetan.
The company said it aims to generate 40% of its revenue from overseas markets in the coming years. Astrotalk last raised $14 million last year in a funding round led by Elev8 Venture Partners at a valuation of about Rs 2,500 crore ($300 million).
