The newly launched FASTag Annual Pass has received an overwhelming response, with over five lakh users signing up within just four days of its launch on Independence Day. Designed for non-commercial vehicle owners, the pass allows unlimited toll usage for one year or up to 200 toll plaza crossings for a fixed payment of Rs 3,000. With FASTag already widely adopted across India, the annual pass offers convenience, reduced waiting times at tolls, and easy activation through the Rajmargyatra App or NHAI website , making travel smoother for frequent highway commuters.

How many users signed up for the FASTag annual pass

The rapid adoption reflects the growing preference for electronic toll collection and the simplicity offered by a one-time annual payment, reducing the need for frequent recharges.

The enthusiasm for the FASTag Annual Pass was visible from day one. Till 7 pm on the first day, about 1.39 lakh toll plaza transactions were recorded, reflecting active usage. Approximately 20,000 to 25,000 concurrent users were logging into the Rajmargyatra App at any given time, highlighting the strong demand and robust infrastructure supporting the service.

Which states lead in FASTag annual pass purchases
Tamil Nadu emerged as the top state in terms of annual pass purchases, followed by Karnataka and Haryana. Most transactions were recorded at toll plazas in these states, along with Andhra Pradesh, marking them as leaders in the initial rollout.

How to activate the FASTag annual pass

1. Download Rajmarg Yatra app or visit NHAI website

The annual pass can be activated only via the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application (available on Android and iOS) or the official NHAI website. Make sure you have a stable internet connection and the latest version of the app to avoid technical issues during activation.

2. Log in and verify eligibility

Log in using your mobile number or vehicle registration number (VRN). Make sure your FASTag is active, correctly affixed to the vehicle, linked to a valid VRN, and not blacklisted. If your FASTag is registered only with a chassis number, update it with the VRN before proceeding. Also, ensure that your vehicle is eligible for the annual pass, as only private/non-commercial vehicles qualify.

3. Fill in vehicle and FASTag details

Provide your vehicle information and existing FASTag ID. Upload necessary documents if prompted, including the RC, owner’s ID and address proof, and a passport-size photograph. Double-check the details to avoid delays in verification, as any mismatch can lead to rejection or longer processing times.

4. Make payment

Pay the Rs 3,000 annual pass fee for 2025–26 using UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking via the app or website. Note that wallet balances cannot be used for this payment. Keep the payment confirmation or receipt safely, as it may be needed for reference in case of activation issues.

5. Activation confirmation

After payment and verification, the annual pass is activated on your existing FASTag, usually within two hours, though it may take up to 24 hours in some cases. An SMS confirmation will be sent upon successful activation. You can also check the status within the app or NHAI website dashboard to ensure the pass is active before using it at toll plazas.

Benefits of the FASTag annual pass
The annual pass allows hassle-free travel across approximately 1,150 toll booths on national highways and expressways. It eliminates frequent recharges, reduces waiting times, and provides transparency in toll payments. With nearly 98% FASTag penetration and over eight crore users nationwide, the annual pass marks a significant milestone in India’s push toward seamless electronic toll collection.
