UPSC Civil Service Age Limit: Every year, lakhs of candidates appear in the examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. One of the most popular examinations of UPSC is the Civil Service Examination, in which the candidates who pass become IAS, IPS, and IFS officers. Some conditions have been fixed to appear in the UPSC examination, you cannot give the civil service examination again and again, you have only a few attempts, apart from this an age limit has also been fixed, many times there is confusion about the age limit whether there is a different age limit for IAS-IPS, now you will not have any confusion, you will get all the information here.

The age limit to become an IPS or IFS officer has been fixed category-wise. The information is in detail ahead. If there is any change in the age limit after the upcoming vacancy, then the information will be given in the notification of UPSC.

The minimum age to appear for the UPSC examination for General Category women and men is 21 years and a maximum of 32 years. They can appear for the UPSC exam only 6 times.

For Other Backward Class (OBC) category candidates, the minimum age limit is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 35 years, i.e., OBCs are given 3 years relaxation. They have 9 attempts.

For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) category people, the minimum age limit is 21 years and maximum age limit is 37 years. 5 years relaxation is given. There is no limit on attempts.

Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD)

General category PwBD: Maximum 42 years (10 years relaxation) – 9 attempts
OBC PwBD: Maximum 45 years (13 years relaxation) – 9 attempts
SC/ST PwBD: Maximum 47 years (15 years relaxation) – No limit on attempts
