Mumbai: In Hindu tradition, the Amavasya tithi (new moon day) holds deep spiritual importance. It is considered the most auspicious day for offering prayers to ancestors (Pitru Tarpan) and performing Shraddha rituals. Devotees also observe fasting, bathing in holy rivers, and charity on this day to seek blessings and relief from Pitru Dosha.
In August 2025, the Bhadrapada Amavasya will be observed on a Saturday, making it especially significant. When Amavasya falls on a Saturday, it is known as Shani Amavasya, a day believed to bring not only the blessings of ancestors but also the divine grace of Lord Shani. This rare alignment makes the occasion highly powerful for spiritual remedies and rituals.
