Indian cricketer Nitish Rana paid a visit to the Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain on Tuesday to seek Lord Mahakal’s blessings. Sharing his devotion, the left-hander said he has been visiting the temple for the past 2-3 years and credited his recent achievements to Mahakal’s grace, adding that with continued blessings, his progress will carry on.
The Mahakaleshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the twelve revered Jyotirlingas in India and holds immense spiritual importance in Hinduism. Its grandeur has been celebrated in ancient scriptures like the Puranas.
Traditionally, the day at Shri Mahakaleshwar begins at dawn with the opening of Baba Mahakal’s doors, followed by a holy Panchamrit bath prepared with milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey. Devotees from across India flock to witness the sacred Bhasma Aarti, a unique ritual believed to bestow blessings, peace, and the fulfillment of wishes.
The deity is then adorned with cannabis and sandalwood, after which the Bhasma Aarti and dhoop-deep Aarti take place. The spiritual atmosphere is enriched with the rhythmic beats of drums, ringing bells, and the echoing sound of conch shells, leaving devotees immersed in devotion.
For Nitish Rana, like countless other devotees, the blessings of Lord Mahakal continue to serve as a guiding force, inspiring strength, faith, and progress both in life and on the cricket field.
