During the announcement of the Asia Cup 2025 team, a journalist questioned the India-Pakistan match at the press conference. But the BCCI media manager stopped that question in the middle. Due to recent events, there is a lot of resentment among the people about the Indo-Pak match.
Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India’s 15 -member team for the Asia Cup 2025 on Tuesday. This team was announced by Ajit Agarkar, chairman of the selection committee and T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav. However, during the press conference, there was a moment that caught everyone’s attention. A journalist asked such a question about the India-Pakistan match, from which both Agarkar and Surya looked uncomfortable.
Journalist questioned Pakistan
The journalist questioned how the match between India and Pakistan will be seen on September 14, especially when there has been an atmosphere of tension between the two countries recently. Before the question was complete, the BCCI media manager intervened in the middle and stopped the question. He said, “If you have a question to team selection, then ask, otherwise you move forward.”
In fact, after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir earlier this year, many people in India have opposed playing against Pakistan. Despite this, when the schedule of the Asia Cup came out and the date of the India-Pakistan match was fixed, many people were surprised.
Shortly before, India ran “Operation Sindoor” at terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK. After this, the demand had intensified that India should stop playing against Pakistan. Some MPs have also raised this issue in Parliament. However, no statement has come from the BCCI.
The match was canceled in WCL
This year, India-Pakistan match had to be canceled in the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025. A day before that match, some former Indian players refused to participate, due to which the organizers canceled the match. Later, India’s team did not play the semi -finals and Pakistan got a walkover.
Now India-Pakistan’s first match in the Asia Cup will be in Dubai on 14 September. If both teams reach Super 4, then there may be another match again on 21 September. If both reaches the finals, then the third time will be face to face.
