What is Jan Vishwas Bill 2025? Introduced in Lok Sabha, there will be major changes in Motor Vehicles Act; Know what will affect you

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal introduced the Jan Vishwas Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. This bill proposes amendments in 355 provisions of 16 central laws related to 10 ministries. Of these, 288 provisions are related to business and 67 to making life easier. There will be freedom from the fear of jail for minor mistakes and exploitation will stop.

To make business and life easier, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday introduced the Jan Vishwas Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha. This bill proposes to amend 355 provisions of 16 central laws related to 10 ministries.

Out of these, 288 provisions are related to business and 67 provisions are related to making life easier. These provisions will be taken out of the category of crime so that businessmen or common people can be free from the fear of going to jail for minor mistakes. Many times businessmen or common people are exploited in the name of this.

The bill will be sent to the select committee

After presenting it in the Lok Sabha, the Speaker was requested to send this bill to the Select Committee, which was accepted. The Lok Sabha Speaker will elect the members of the Select Committee. The committee report will be presented on the first day of the next session of Parliament. Earlier also in 2023, the Jan Vishwas Bill was introduced under which 183 provisions of 42 central laws related to 19 ministries were removed from the category of crime.

There will be a change in the Motor Vehicles Act

According to the proposals of the Jan Vishwas Bill 2025, changes will be made in the provisions of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Act 1994 and the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. The rateable value method is currently used to calculate property tax in NDMC, which will now be replaced by the unit area system. Changes are proposed in 40 provisions of NDMC.

The jail sentence will end on the first offense

Similarly, 20 provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act may be changed. According to the new proposal, registration of a vehicle can be done in any state instead of the same state. The license can be renewed 30 days after its expiry. The jail sentence for many first-time mistakes related to vehicle laws will be abolished.
