
The hatchback segment in India saw a mixed performance in July 2025. While some popular models gained traction, others recorded a year-on-year decline. Despite the fluctuations, Maruti Suzuki once again dominated the list of top-selling hatchbacks, with multiple models in the top five.
WagonR Retains No.1 SpotAccording to GaadiWaadi data, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR secured the top position in the July 2025 sales chart.

Even with a decline, WagonR continues to be India’s most preferred hatchback.
Swift, Baleno & Alto Keep Maruti Strong-
Swift ranked second with 14,190 units sold, down 16% from last year (16,854 units).

Baleno took the third spot, while Alto occupied the fourth, strengthening Maruti’s grip on the top four slots.
Tata Tiago, a strong rival in the budget hatchback space, slipped to fifth place.

Maruti continues to dominate the hatchback market, securing the top four positions despite overall sales dips. Tata and Toyota are showing resilience, but Hyundai’s hatchback lineup saw sharp declines.
