The hatchback segment in India saw a mixed performance in July 2025. While some popular models gained traction, others recorded a year-on-year decline. Despite the fluctuations, Maruti Suzuki once again dominated the list of top-selling hatchbacks, with multiple models in the top five.

WagonR Retains No.1 Spot

According to GaadiWaadi data, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR secured the top position in the July 2025 sales chart.

  • YoY Change: -9%

Even with a decline, WagonR continues to be India’s most preferred hatchback.

Swift, Baleno & Alto Keep Maruti Strong
  • Swift ranked second with 14,190 units sold, down 16% from last year (16,854 units).

  • Baleno took the third spot, while Alto occupied the fourth, strengthening Maruti’s grip on the top four slots.

Tata Tiago Slips to Fifth

Tata Tiago, a strong rival in the budget hatchback space, slipped to fifth place.

  • July 2025: 5,575 units

  • YoY Change: -2%

Other Popular Hatchbacks
